Three weeks ago I had an operation on my knee. I'm still not able to walk normally.
Does anyone know how long it will take to fully recover?

If it’s a replacement it’ll take a while - physio is really important though.

Hope you feel better soon Jean.

Thanks Meg. I start physio on Monday. I never imagined it would be such a lengthy, painful process or I doubt I would have got it done. And the fact that I was operated while concious, numbed only from the waist down, and heard all the surgeons comments for the best of two hours, it was a nightmare. I certainly will not be getting the other leg done!

I got my hip replaced 10 years ago, not as difficult a surgery I think but like you I had a spinal - however I was sedated so “slept” through the whole thing. Spinals are a lot less dangerous than full anaesthetics as you continue to breathe unaided but you can ask for full anaesthetic next time if needing done. Sorry it’s hurting Jean but the good news is - it WILL get better. Mx

Still very painful Meg, have to keep using the crutches, and still taking painkillers. Feeling sorry for myself and regret having it done.
Thanks for your support Meg.

It'll be worth it in the long run Jean, keep your chin up.

Thanks Ian. Its awful not being as active as I've always been, can't even take the dog for walks.
How are you? Are you still cycling as before?

All good here thanks, just working away, nothing else for it :D.
Aye still doing a fair bit of cycling but just getting miles in not really going anywhere.
I'll bet you within a few weeks the dogs will be hiding from you once you're back to full fitness :good:

So sorry you’re still having pain - it’s horrible having to sit when everyone is going about their business but it’s huge surgery and it’ll take its time. How do the medics see your progress?

My appointment is on May 6 Meg, two months after the operation. I hope it will be better before then.
Am I just unlucky? Everyone I've spoken to who's had knee surgery say they feel much better than before.

At least my car is automatic so I can make myself useful and pick up the grandchildren from school, otherwise I'm just watching TV most of the time.
It's a long day.....
