Interesting point about babies being born at home.
I was born at home at 160 Glasgow St. in 1942 as was my younger brother in 1946.
Wonder how many other of our contributing Threetowners were born at home.

I was born in Buckreddan - the only one of us who wasn’t born at home.

I was born at home : 70 Ardrossan Road, Saltcoats. This was in 1956; quite a late date for it, one would think.

In the 1970s my brother bought a small flat in Wellpark Road for investment purposes, paying the mortgage with the monthly rent.
I recently started corresponding with a farout relation on my mothers side who is interested in geneology, family trees etc, something that I have never had the time to indulge in. She sent me photos and birth certificates, even of my father born in 1915, and HIS parents and their occupations! I noticed that my father was born in Wellpark road, no 49, so when I was in Saltcoats last week I went to see if it was still standing. To my great pleasure It was indeed! I sent a photo to my brother, and lo and behold, would you believe it, without knowing, it was the same house my brother bought in the 70s!!!. No.49!!!! He thinks this coincidence its almost spooky.
I had never met my fathers parents, he never talked about them, and to find out that my grandmothers name was Elizabeth, the name my daughter unknowingly gave HER daughter, was a great satisfaction.
glenshena, Can I suggest having never known your father's parents had an effect on your life as it did with me.However well done on finding the information. Thanks for posting that.

Brian, all the credit goes to the lady who, unpretensiously, sent me the information about my family tree.
I survived life even without grandparents, it was my mother, God bless her, a widow, who raised
me and my two brothers,
But being a grandmother myself now and being able to help with my grandchildren is quite rewarding.
My life is built around them now.

A tip for a tipple.
Since catching covid in January 2022, I've been left with an anoying cough, sometimes worse than others. It's what they call 'long covid' I believe.
In these two years I've bought what must be hundreds of cough bottles, of all kinds, but it always comes back. A month ago on a Saturday evening, I realised that I had finished my bottle and would have to wait till Monday till the chemist opened. Then I had the idea of taking a brandy (cognac) as when I have a cold I always make myself a hot toddy which helps a lot. Do you know that unbelievably my cough has gone away. The cognac must have melted the catarr on my lungs, in fact it seems to burn your throat as it goes down. I haven't bought a cough bottle for a month now and havent had a cough since.
