Wondered if the plague of mice that is now devastating our grain growing areas in Australia goes back to the early settlers arriving in Oz just as did the rabbits and foxes.
Had a search and found this:
The arrival of the British First Fleet in 1788 is often cited as the most probable origin of house mice into Australia but earlier introductions were possible with Dutch ships charting the former “New Holland” coast since the early 1600 s

It’s interesting - the Sunday Times has a big article on this very topic - complete with a response from Buckingham Palace saying that the royal family did not ask for this and they did not approve of naming anything after Prince Phillip - seemingly, like the garden bridge and the roundabout under the Isle of Man - this is all just in the PMs (rather jumbled) head.

I think you're being very polite
He's a nut job
He knows no value,
I've had a thought,He's like a Stevenston Burgh Councillor circa 1971

He's either Napoleon or Lafayette whichever one that says
"I'm the leader! I'm the one that says when we go."
except they were funny

Sorry again folks,
somebody is going to have to explain this one.
JD

Sorry again - for my laziness - folks. I've just googled them.
The man really is ready to be locked up with the Isle of Man thing. Where does he think the money is coming from?
And now I remember the bridge over the Thames.

I'm wondering if it is possible to walk/cycle to the "Big Idea" or is all access barred? Presumably there was a way through across the Ardeer peninsula when it was built and the BBC were there not so long ago? All those miles of old railway lines...

I looked at it years ago from the irvine side and wondered similar.

I used to run from Stevenston to the Irvine Harbour but that was along the water line.
I did similar on a motorbike years and years ago.( I wondered if you could go from Saltcoats to Troon on the sand, the answer to that is yes BUT?

Following that type of path, at some point you would need to take a left toward Irvine town up a bit and then a right , to approach it from the top.
Google Earth will show you , most others had ICI blanked
