Hi Hammy,

This topic might prove fruitful : http://threetowners.net/forum/viewtopic ... 292#p37292" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There were a few migrated to North America with links to the three towns. See our migration page : http://www.threetowners.com/migration/

There were Loves in Stevenston. Tom, (Tam), Love worked in the gas-works in Stevenston. Approx dates, - early 1900's -1980/90. He was alive when I left Stevenston in the early 1970's.

I stayed across the road from the Love family when I lived in Misk Knowes back in the early sixties. There was a son Jim Love, who was known as Cheery, And a daughter Avril Love who was the eldest.
I have a vague recollection of someone telling me that Jim went to Canada, but I don't know what became of Avril.

Sadie Love was the (feared) secretary at Ardrossan Academy - think she came from Saltcoats, but not sure.

After I left the Academy in 1955, I met Sadie Love in Saltcoats one day and had a long chat with her. She was as nice as pie. Another one whose bark was worse than her bite.

Whilst researching my Grans Seggie tree I came across -in the A&S Herald BDM, a James Seggie who on 25 Apr 1924 married an Elizabeth Love.They later had a child-female,born 22 Oct 1926 Krugersdrop, Transvaal ,South Africa at the Presbyterian church Manse.Despite seaching Ayrshire records and S. African records,[I did locate a will of James in S. A. but sadly I got no help due to lack of family data]. I am still at a loss who these 2 were. I have not been able to link James to the large family in Saltcoats/Ardrosssan Seggies.[Raise Street mostly,]But recently found a branch of Seggies in Kirkcudbright,so Have not exhausted the search.However it is a puzzle I have not had much luck sorting.I have no idea who this Elizabeth Love is.Maybe it rings a bell with someone on this site?
