Savoury Muffins
Got three of the grandkids here on school holidays - these were well received.
Savoury Muffins
2 -3 rashers of bacon (diced)
2 cups tasty shredded cheese
2 medium onions finely sliced
1 egg well beaten
1 cup of self raising flour
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon mustard
Mix all together and place in mini muffin tray - bake at 180 deg for 25 minutes.

Re: Savoury Muffins
...more importantly, are there any muffins left?
I'm still saving up for a signature.

Just asked the heid cook. The bacon cooks in the muffins. Didn't know American Cups were different to British ones. I'm a mug man myself. Haven't broke my President Obama one yet.

No way Hose. They're no muffins, they're american cookies. You could do worse than send them and your obama mug off to help the kurds, they would appreciate all the help he can give seeing as how they not getting boots on the ground..
lookee here for a pic of Real Scottish Muffins

Re: Savoury Muffins
Actually ARB the google picture is ENGLISH muffins. Hughie's picture is the real deal for American type muffins (the best we tasted ever was in Hamilton NZ and the top of the CN tower in Toronto) American cookies are large flat soft biscuits. Oh and biscuits in the US are actually scone type things and the gravy (of biscuits and gravy fame) is actually white sauce and so it goes on and on..........ardrossanrentboy wrote:No way Hose. It's all in the taste, ARB. They are lovely. So, why the attack and condemn approach?

Thought you were looking for an excuse to give it a doing!
I have to blame Google for the pic of English muffins as I typed in the search box ' Scottish Muffins ' and they do look closer to Scottish traditional muffins. A retired baker explained the production process for traditional scottish muffins which require yeast and double-proving and manually turning on the hot plate so very labour intensive which was reflected in the high price of them. Most small local bakers no longer make them so I'm forced to buy the packaged ones from Morrisons which are a reasonable substitute.
No offence intended to the ultra-sensitive cookie fans, keep taking the muffins!
