I wonder how many deaths Ardeer was responsible for in the three towns?

the fuse-head was on the left-hand side of the road which led to the wharf, just before the silicons across the bogie lines. Or you could go via the clean floored passageway.
Hi meekan, I remember the location quite well , I was taking an alternative route, or should I say the process route. I'm not so familiar with the process of making they small match stick thingies (fuse heads) but obviosly you have first hand knowledge.
You mention the road to the wharf and the silicon plant down there,( had my first unofficial driving lesson on this road), may I jog your memory, next to the silicons was the new hill, I used to make candles in there during the power strikes. Further on was the burning station, nearer the wharf , is this starting to resemble a saunter roon Ardeer.
Morag mentions the unfortunate inherent health and safety risks of a massive industrial site, this could be split into 2 areas. I.C.I.'s records of accidents were very good giving the number of employees and the materials involved , this was based on working hours lost. What it didn't take into account was the the long term effect the chemicals had on it's employees, many had an untimely death. :(

Al, great photos, but could you post detail of where the images were taken - our landscape changes so quickly some of those who have been away a while might have problems identifying the area.

Thanks for tagging the photos Al. Some, I knew, and some I didn't , so the tags helped a great deal. What a great way to see the area. Thanks again.
