The Village of Snodgrass, Stevenston?
The first three paragraphs of the following article would seem to suggest that a village called Snodgrass once encroached on to land that now forms part of Stevenston. Anybody ever heard of it? It was news to me.
A word search of Threetowners shows Mitchy involved in a conversation in 2007 where The Snodgrass Branch of a railway line inside Ardeer Factory was mentioned. This would tie in with the apparent location of the village.

Thanks Mitchy.
I still find it strange that having lived in the Three Towns and worked in both Kilwinning and Irvine the village of SNODGRASS never once cropped up in conversation.

I always thought of it as a jokey English name, wasn't there a member of Dad's Army, captain Snodgrass?

Morag,
Captain Mainwaring I'm afraid. Are you saying it means nothing to you either?

Actually, it may have been a character on American t.v., and maybe not a captain either Just don't associate it with Scotland, let alone the Three towns.

Morag,
The legendary 'ARE YOU BEING SERVED' had Captain Peacock. USA didn't do a cover version by any chance with a Captain Snodgrass?
And by the way, here am I warning Meg's man earlier tonight no' to hijack Susan's topic just in case we incur your implied wrath again and you've got us trawling comedy shows when I'm seriously searching for the Threetoon's BRIGADOON!

Re: The Village of Snodgrass, Stevenston?
We had Are you being served but the same one you did, very popular here though it's been on reruns forever. Also the follow up though that was only shown once. Britcoms, as they are called, are well liked here, as are most Brit imported shows. We get them on Public Broadcasting service, PBS locally but there are a number of different stations depending on your region. Drawback? Pledge break, weeks of them urging public support. We don't pay a t.v. licence fee here, the ads make the difference!(sometime the ads are better than the shows - not the Brit shows, of course!)
Now here''s me thinking of Gene Kelly and Van Johnston...
