Does anyone remember the Marchi family who owned the Regal Cafe in Countess Street?

Margaret,
I thought it was Biagi & Biagioni that owned the "Regal Cafe"
Maybe it was Marchi before then?
Biagi went on to open the"Aberlour" on the High Road as a Licenced premises.

There was a Janine Piacinti in my class at the academy in the early 60's. Also I remember having a good friend called Adrian Pllu, from Saltcoats, same era, I know he worked in Claude Alexanders in Dockhead st. Anyone know or remember them?

Alex

Sadly this week's BDMs reminds me of a lovely lady who lived in Rowanside Terrace, Ardrossan - Mrs. Retzbach.

I'm Gerry Cunningham I was brought up in 30, Rowanside Terrace, Ardrossan. I have lived in Vancouver, Canada since 79. My mothers maiden name is Sadie Retzbach and is well and kicking and still resides at the same address in Ardrossan. She just celebrated her 86th Birthday. The woman who passed away was her sister in-law, Nettie. Her husband Pat (Sadies brother) passed away a number of years ago. My father Eddie also passed away a number of years ago.
My brother Jim and sisters Caroline, Anne-Marie, and Jacqueline live in Ardrossan and Saltcoats my other sister Sally lives in Portsmouth England and often goes home to see Mum.
I'm curious, who are you?

Gerry,

I'll send you a PM shortly but in the meantime correct me if I'm wrong but didn't 'Cunningham' and 'Retzbach' both appear on the nameplate at 30 Rowanside Terrace. Did your mother's mother not live with the family there?

Also, these two photographs from the Coronation Street Party (if you haven't found them on site already) might interest you.

I think your mother might feature in the first one - centre/right behind the lady with the check coat?

And bottom left in the second is surely a Cunningham lassie (Caroline?)

Most importantly, I'm delighted to hear your mother is alive and well and still living in the same house. This must make her the longest living resident in the same same house. Mr. Marshall at No. 12 is also an original resident but he switched houses from No. 16.
