Whale Watching Down Under

Post by Hughie »

This was to be an unforgettable experience during our holiday. Three humpback whales played around our whale watching boat for almost an hour

Hervey Bay in Australia is three and a half hours North of Brisbane and is the gateway to Fraser Island the largest sand Island in the world. This area is now famous as the Whale Watch Capital of the World. We took a trip there the other week and it was awesome to see these gentle giants - sightings are guaranteed at this time of the year. The Humpback whales migrate between their feeding grounds of Antarctica and the Great Barrier Reef, where they mate and breed. On their return journey they enter Hervey Bay and spend between 3 and 5 days resting or feeding their new born calves, before commencing the 5000 km trek down south to Antarctica.

Hi Hughie I thought it was number 3 .
I also spotted YOUR Mary in Saltcoats when I was back, in fact my sister gave her a wee run up to Campbell Ave, my old neighbourhood.
I would have known her anywhere
Cheers.
Joyce :)
