John Donnelly

Post by Meg »

It’s my sad task to let you know we’ve lost another long serving 3ts member, John Donnelly. John was born in Stevenston on 17 April 1943 and passed away on 7 December 2021 in Rijswijk in the Netherlands. John and his lovely wife Ria, attended many of the Threetowners social events, travelling over from the their home in The Hague, and I’m hoping to organise a wee farewell ‘do’ when times are safer and the nights are lighter, in the Champion Shell in Stevenston so we can raise a glass in his memory. I’ll let you all know the details.

I met John and Ria at several ThreeTowners’ reunions and enjoyed their company. To travel hundreds of miles from The Netherlands shows a fondness for his roots and a commitment to this group. May you rest in peace, John.

Sad to hear we've lost our dear friend, John Donnelly. From the early days of our group John was a great contributor, and added so much to our knowledge on what had gone before in Stevenston - locals will remember John's dad having the paper shop in Boglemart Street. Condolences to Ria, family and friends on their loss. May he rest in peace.

I was actually wondering why John hadn't been writing much recently on three towners, but never expected this bad news. Hadn't met him but we 'conversed' ocasionally on the site. So sad, condolences to the family.
