Nylon Plant Cooling Tower Collapse

Post by Tom Cassidy »

At the time of the collapse, I was the production planner responsible for the inward logistics and production of the KA plant which used cyclohexane as feedstock. I stayed up most of the night to prove that we could maintain production and would not have to shut down.

I presented my findings to Frank Robinson, Commercial Manager the following morning.

Ken Lamb, manager of the area which included cycolhexane offloading was also present.

Mr Robinson immediately presented these findings to Colin Steingold, the works manager and there was no break in output, and I maintain that production continuity was ensured within less than 24 hours.

I agree the comments about later adding small wooden structures to support additional cooling.
