Hamilton, Alexander on 14/02/1857 at Galston. In the 32nd year of his age. Surgeon, son of the late Dr. Hamilton, Galston. Deceased was a young man of good abilities, and was lately surgeon to the Parochial Board in Newmilns. While holding this situation, he went out in a Medical capacity to the Crimea, and underwent many of the hardships of that eventful campaign. Upon the cessation of hostilities, with his health much impaired, he again commenced practice in Newmilns, where he was much esteemed for his professional acquirements, and his amiable deportment. On his finding himself unable to continue his duties he retired to his mother's house, where after an illness of three week's he departed this life, much regretted by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
