My wife was very fond of Matty and would go across the road and chat with her before going on a date with me back then. When home we'd always find time to visit with Tessa Malcolmson, one of Matty and Sam's three daughters.

There aren't very many marriages announced in the Herald of 5th March 1971, so I'll include the wedding anniversaries as well in this post.

BALLANTYNE - At Irvine Central Hospital, on February 27 1971, Barbara ( Cissie ) Scott, aged 71 years, beloved wife of the late William Ballantyne. 46 The Riggs, Stevenston.

BROWN - At Ballochmyle Hospital, on February 26 1971, William Walker Brown ( retired Tailor ), in his 91st year, beloved husband of the late Mary Lunn, 29 Well Street, West Kilbride.
