Watched this film last night starring Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Dolly Parton and Shirley McLean. American women in the 80's in a small town who frequent
the local hairdresser and exchange gossip. Julia Roberts got an oscar nomination for her performance on what was a true story that ended badly. When she got married her doctor advised her not to have children as it would endanger her life. But she got pregmnat and had a little boy. After two years she had kidney failure and her mom Sally Field decided to give her one of her kidneys. But she died due to a bad reaction to the medicine used to prevent rejection. A real tear jerker. Reminded me of my cousin who died from this illness in 1960 at only 20 years old. In the 60's there were no such things as transplants or dylasis. He was a very gifted artist and could have been one of Scotlands best painters of the time. I still have a lovely picture of Robert Burns which he painted for my mother.
