Hardly any time for rest for him as his next match is this evening. Going great guns👏
There should have been a mascara alert before they showed the clip on Breakfast tv - not a dry eye in the house! Have read that he might not play in the quarters tonight as he doesn’t feel he has had enough time to recover.

Just read that Andy has withdrawn from the Washington competition to allow his body to recover in time for the Cincinnati Masters.

Shame but health comes first...

What was this I heard, that they finished the game at 3 o'clock in the morning?
Have they gone stark, staring bonkers?

Badly run. A player injured in a match and being asked to play later that day ,would have to do the same as Andy Murray.Glad he is looking after himself .

The mighty dollar JD - sponsors wouldn’t allow the game to be postponed until next day - advert fees, etc.

Nice win for Andy in the 1st rd overcoming duckworth from Australia in 4 sets. Considering it’s his first grand slam match since Wimbledon last yr, he played really well, esp in the latter stages of the match.
Doesn’t get any easier in the 2nd rd as it’s fernando Verdasco

Think most people seen this coming but Andy has said over night he is retiring and Melbourne could be his last tournament. Sad but he looks in pain constantly and his long term health must be a concern. Britain's best ever sportsman? Just maybe.
