The dominance of the desktop possibly reflects the age distribution of members. I-pads and I-phones and similar devices seem to be the domain of the young. My granddaughter persuaded me at Christmas to get an I-pad mini for my wife with the promise that she would teach her how to use it. However her flying fingers were a bewildering sequence to follow. The reason I allowed myself to be persuaded was to get my wife away from the desktop where she presses key combinations Microsoft never thought of and I have to sort out the mess.

Whenever you click on a link a significant amount of information about your local system is sent to the remote server where it is logged for later analysis. There are suggestions that the extent of information sent to the server from each Web client may be enough to uniquely identify each computer system from every other - which is a worrying thought.John Donnelly wrote:So who the #$@* has been looking over my shoulder?

I'm still saving up for a signature.

Agree there Retsum, and maybe I'm stating the obvious here, but it's interesting to note that although Desktop access to 'Threetowners' still dominates, it's popularity has decreased, and 'Tablet and Phone access' combined has more than doubled percentage wise in the past 2 or 3 years.
I'm sure other social media sites - and the internet as a whole - which perhaps attract a wider section of the community, have experienced a similar trend even though the percentages will no doubt differ greatly from here.
Just a thought.
