Re: Scotland Football Team.
Sad to hear this morning that a 22 year old Cumnock lad died at the game, an accident in a stairwell.

Scotland 1 England 3
feeling a bit deflated I was expecting a better show from Scotland. We were to often second to the ball and caught to often in possession when on the ball. England were the better team on the night.

Correct Meekan on all counts. The only crumb of comfort ,was the victory over the Irish, which as you suggested was more important.meekan wrote:Scotland 1 England 3

Re: Scotland Football Team.
Couple of Fixtures starting with Northern Ireland- Wednesday 25/3. (Friendly)
Then a very tough game against Gibraltar-( U.E.F.A. European Championship Qualifier 29/3)
Anyone fancy our chances or even predict the scores.

Not completely off topic, just a bit late, but do I remember hearing way back that Frank Haffey played for Ardeer Thistle?

I believe the Gibraltar manager is a threetowner or at least played with Ardeer Thistle at one time.brian f wrote:

I'm sure you're jesting a wee bit there brian f. Their results in the current campaign so far haven't been too encouraging for them. They've played four games, conceded 21 goals and scored none.brian f wrote:Then a very tough game against Gibraltar-( U.E.F.A. European Championship Qualifier 29/3)
Mind you, we do have a habit of struggling at times against supposed 'minnows'
As you've just made mention of, meekan, the current Gibraltar interim/caretaker manager is a chap named Davie Wilson who was apparently born and raised in Kilwinning.
Before he joined the Navy, Kilmarnock F.C. had him on there books as an apprentice, and according to newspaper reports he also played Junior football with Ardeer Thistle, Troon Juniors and Auchinleck Talbot.
He seems genuinely excited about the upcoming fixture.

I watched the Gibraltar game on the telly , a policeman scored their Goal to upset your prediction .
Re: Scotland Football Team.
Well PT. You weren't too far wrong there with your score predictions!
brian f .. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but It almost seems like you'd have enjoyed seeing your own country lose an important international football match.
