I've just finished cleaning up my hard drive. I didn't realise how much un-needed files I had , taking up disc space needlessley, until I was trying to burn a movie onto a disc with Nero. I got the message not enough disc space.
So when I looked at my c disc I had only about 400mb of free space out of 111gb.
After I looked at all the files on my disc I discovered that I had an old version of windows still on the disc. I had not realised that when I upgraded to a newer version, that the older version would still be on my computer.
The result was that after deleting it, and some other useless files, I now have 50.5 gb of free space.
I then tried defragmenting the discs using the defragmenting programme that comes installed on the computer, but it was running all day snd still had not finished.
So I googled to see if this was normal,I discovered this free programme which defraged my disc in around 18 mins.
