What a game that was. France won by 11 but it was an excellent performance from Scotland, who i thought played some great rugby.

Next up is the Irish at Murrayfield.

Fantastic game, the French are such a powerful team but we matched them and for large parts we had them on the back foot. Just wasn't to be today. Bring on the Irish, the Italians showed yesterday how to run at them.

bonzo, considering the setbacks Ireland had i thought we could have done a lot better. But as you say completely outplayed. Bitterly dissapointed.

Scotland finish off against Italy next Saturday lunchtime .

Think we'll have to go some too get out of our world Cup group as we have South Africa and Ireland in our group along with Tonga.

We sneaked that today Brian, free play at the end lead to a cracking try but the scrummaging at the end could easily have went Italy's way and they would have had the free play....ifs and buts.

Lots of positives.
Pool strength in depth, and nobody pressed Ireland and France harder than Scotland did.
Ten years ago we would have been resigned to a slow bicycle race with Italy - and thank God they've improved out of all recognition - for the spurtle of oak.

27 -0 Up and cruising Scotland then lost the plot and had me fearing an anxiety attack, though done well to hold on at the end.
