you should try the Hickory Chips even on a gas barbie. It's a wee bit like adding cinnamon, better still, see if you can get those cinnamon sticks we used to smoke in the school bog,

we used to keep the unsmokable remains of the cinnamon sticks in a tin wi' oor ultra handy Rizla Roller (nicked oot o' Woolies) and when the Western SMT buses returned to their depot in Princes Street they usually dropped the clippie off at the cash office and when the bus went between the Conservative & Unionist Club and the railway we jumped on and quickly cleared the upstairs floor of 'doubts' and jumped off at the back of the terminus and over the Inches wall. Then we crushed it all up and rolled our own, the fags from hell

Brian, there is a fig spread you can make or buy, basically figs sugar pectin citric acid..etc. It's Dalmatia fig spread, got a jar in the fridge, Though haven't tried it, supposed to be good with, preferably, sharp cheese, and spread on toasted bread, (crostini?) You could probably get the recipe online :)

Never seen it in the shops over here Morag .
Amazon and a few others sell it online i believe Dalmatia Fig spread comes from Croatia and as you describe good with cheese.
Whats the cheese like in South Cal ?
My favourite is Blue cheese , most cheddar cheese i find a bit bland.

God, you'd be hard to choose from a selection of ? In my fridge I can't guess how many I have, my son and his 'friend' are fans of or buy different cheeses. I like a good sharp Cheddar. A bowl of chili, good helpin' o' cheese atop? Now you're talkin!'
