Tim had an email from my Uncle Hugh who said he thinks it is one of his. He mostly painted these for family members and he is interested to know who/where you got it from. I believe he stopped painting them in the early 80s when he got a computer. Thanks Rae (White)

Hello Rae, there's a PM button to the right of messages if you wish to reply privately to whoever posted, or at the top just under the board index there 's the user control panel which allows you to compose and send private messages.
Hope this helps.

It was given to me by a lady in Street, Somerset. I know she has no family ties to Scotland.

An interesting painting and nostalgic for those of us who used the harbour. To-day there are no boats because the new flood defences mean that the water level is so low that boats can no longer be moored there.

Talking about Saltcoats Harbour.
Does anyone have memories of the folk band `Saltcoats Harbour Band` led by Tom Martin?
Frand Brand.

Hi Frank,
The Saltcoats Harbour Band was formed in 1982 the members being Tom, John Shearer, John Montgomery and myself.
In 1984 John Shearer moved south and Dusty Miller joined. We played together until 1992 , playing all over Ayrshire and regularly at the Irvine Harbour festival and The Marymas Folk festival. In 1988 we played at the SECC and went to Brittany with the Ardneil Pipe Band playing at the Nantes Festival . Alas Tom and John have passed away . Dusty is still in Saltcoats and I am in Southsea.

My sister sent me a lovely watercolour of Saltcoats harbour, very nicely done. Looks like the artist is Dorothy Bruce...a local artist??
