For some time now I have been trying to design my ideal home - a pet project of mine.
I can do all the floor plans & details on paper, no problem, but I am now contemplating transferring
those plans & ideas onto the computer. The problem is, I haven't a clue where to start or how I go
about doing this ? Can anyone offer some advice/instruction etc on the best way to achieve this ?
Bear in mind that, when it comes to technology, I am a complete novice. So, simple explanations please.
Thank's very much, in advance, for any help given.

I can't speak from experience, but the following is free software that will allow you to experiment and see whether it fits your requirements...

I'm still saving up for a signature.

Also worth having a look at Google (now Trimble) Sketchup, a free download from www.sketchup.com
There's a large user community, and plenty of online examples of how to use it

You can use microsoft visio to draw it on your computer if it's just floor plans you want.
Here's a sample I did for our bowling club for the health and safety people.
