JD,
This may revive your memories of HMS Backanfurrit

I miss it. The slipway is now fenced off but used by nesting swans, sunbathing seals and a variety of river birds.

Re: On my morning walk
PT,
I remember when we first got the use of a car, (borrowed from a pal - early 60's ??). We set off to Arrochar, via the ferry. We almost had the feeling we were going abroad, over the water to Argyle. Happy days.
JD.

Hi PT,
Glad to see we shared the snow with you. This was taken from the roof of the office in Oslo in an area where we would normally have lunch.

Re: On my morning walk
I'm just thinking about going to bed, to rise again in 6 hours for my morning walk.
I've laid out my usual heavy clothing, including woollen cap, gloves, etc.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
At least the mornings are getting much lighter.

Re: On my morning walk
PT, I appreciate we have it fairly easy by comparison, but this year, (I'm fond of plants and gardening) I've had plants damaged or killed by freezes and, more unusually, burnt by several days of intense heat...it's got to where you don't know what to wear..go clobbered up in the morning and by noon sweltering

Morag,
Your plants would have been nipped this morning - cauld, frosty, foggy - but the sunrise looking up the Clyde towards Glasgow was worth getting up for.

lovely..how I miss my land! California is beautiful and easy on the old bones but nothing stirs the blood (at least mine) like the beauty of Scotland.

And when I'm walking there in the morning it's sometimes hard to imagine that some of the greatest ships in the world were launched just where the river is taking a wee bend to the left.
