GLASGOW HERALD
9 MAY 1912
THE PROPOSED STEVENSTON SLAUGHTER-HOUSE
A deputation of proprietors and tenants of houses in the vicinity of the site of the new slaughter-house at Stevenston waited on Stevenston Parish Council to protest against the site.
It was stated that a worse site could not have been selected on account of the low-lying ground and difficulty of drainage, the dwelling-houses in that part of the town having their drains run into a septic tank for treatment.
Members of the Council also expressed themselves as displeased with the site, and it was resolved that the representative to the meeting of the County Council state their objections at that meeting.
