NORTH AYRSHIRE LICENSING COURT

North Ayrshire Licensing Court was held in Kilwinning yesterday – Mr W. D. Russell, Maulside, presiding.

A licence, but without the power to sell spirits was granted in the case of Mrs Helen Thomson or Lawson, Caledonian Vaults, Stevenston.

BANKRUPTCY

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court yesterday – before Sheriff Robertson – James Wyllie, Mayfield, Stevenston, was examined in bankruptcy.

In reply to Mr Robert Wylie, solicitor, bankrupt said he was a tenant of Kerelaw Mains, Stevenston, and of Brownhill, Dalry, and he also occupied Mayfield and Holm, Stevenston, although the latter rests in the name of his father.

He lodged a state of affairs showing his liabilities to be £12,454 13s 3d and his assets £5,779 7s 2d, showing a deficiency of £6,675 6s 1d.

All this deficiency he said had arisen since 1905, and most of it had occurred through improvements and other things at Brownhill.

There were claims against him to the extent of £1,795 by a firm of money-lenders.

The examination was continued till May 3.

KILWINNING AND STEVENSTON FARMERS’ SOCIETY

The annual exhibition of cattle, horses, etc., of the Kilwinning and Stevenston Farmers’ Society took place at Oxenward, Kilwinning yesterday. The weather being excellent, there was a large turnout of spectators.

The largest increase in population is in Stevenston, which is 1236 more than at the last census.
