A 22-yer-old railway fireman was thrown from his moped after it hit a parked car in Stevenston – and was then hit by a bus.
The man, William Donald Welsh, of 11 Burnbank Street, Stevenston, was killed but police said today they believed he received fatal injuries in the first impact.

GLASGOW HERALD
15 OCTOBER 1908
GLASGOW BOYS WITH REVOLVERS
On Tuesday night two Glasgow lads, aged 11 and 13 years, were apprehended at Giffen and conveyed to Stevenston on a charge of burglary at the Caledonian Railway Station.
The booking office was broken into, entrance having been obtained by forcing the shutter at the ticket aperture with an iron water-plug key. In the office two lockfast drawers were broken, 13s 6d stolen, and 325 tickets for Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast, Muirend, etc., etc., and the dating apparatus carried off.
On Tuesday morning it was learned that two of the stolen tickets were handed in at Kilwinning. In the afternoon the two boys returned to Kilwinning with the intention of travelling to Glasgow, and were recognised by the railway officials as the two who had tendered the tickets earlier in the day.
At Giffen the train was stopped, tickets examined, and the boys gave two of the missing tickets.
On being searched a number of other Stevenston tickets were recovered, and two new revolvers which they had purchased with the money.
The lads were on a visit to some friends in the district, and the burglary is supposed to have taken place on Sunday.
