ARDROSSAN AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB
The annual sports of Ardrossan Amateur Athletic Club were held at Winton Park, Ardrossan, on Saturday afternoon. The weather was excellent but for a strong wind that blew down the field and told against the runners, and there was an excellent attendance.
All the events filled well, and in the flat races the national champions were in evidence.
The band of Ayr Industrial School and the Ardrossan Pipe Band gave selections at intervals.

GLASGOW HERALD
25 JULY 1911
YEOMANRY CAMP ARDROSSAN
The Yeomanry camp at Ardrossan attracted large numbers of visitors on Sunday.
In the forenoon church parade took place, Rev. J. Kirkland Cameron, of New Parish Church officiating.
Immediately afterwards the presentation of a long service medal was made to Sergeant Dougan, he having completed 12 years’ service in the Yeomanry.
Yesterday the squadrons were engaged in carrying out a tactical scheme, Squadrons A and B, under Major Cayzer proceeding early to Kilwinning, while Squadrons C and D, under Major Wardle, accompanied by a light waggon to represent a convoy, set out in a more northerly direction.
The idea was that the troops which had gone to Kilwinning should endeavour to prevent the convoy from returning to camp.
After scouring a considerable part of the country, Major Cayzer’s force located the convoy in the neighbourhood of the Busbie reservoir, about four miles from the camp, and after a sharp fire from Maxim and rifles the convoy was captured. General Babington accompanied the attacking force.
Today General Appleby is expected to visit the camp, which the squadrons are not likely, therefore, to leave, most of the day being taken up with the inspection.

GLASGOW HERALD
27 JULY 1846
BOARD AND EDUCATION ARDROSSAN
Mr Park, Parochial Schoolmaster of Ardrossan, can receive into his family, at present, a few additional boys as boarders, to whose health, education, and morals, the strictest attention will be given. Boys put under Mr Park’s care will have all the branches taught in parish schools, with Latin, Greek, French, writing, plain and ornamental, drawing.
The school room and dwelling-house have recently been greatly enlarged and improved, and the bedrooms are commodious and well ventilated.
Ardrossan is well known as an excellent watering place, and the facility of access to it, by railways and steam boats, so many times in a day, renders it peculiarly adapted for a board establishment. Mr and Mrs Park devote the utmost attention not only to the domestic comfort, but also to the religious instruction and moral training of the youths under their care.
Terms moderate.
Mr Park has the honour to refer to the Honourable James Lumsden, Lord Provost of the City of Glasgow; to the Rev. Doctor Hill, Professor of Divinity in the University of Glasgow; to the Rev. John Bryce of Ardrossan; and the Rev. Mr Elles, Saltcoats.
