GLASGOW HERALD
14 MAY 1884
ARDROSSAN POLICE COMMISSIONERS MEETING
On Monday night the usual monthly meeting of the Board was held – Provost Hogarth presiding.
The minutes showed that on the 1st of May a meeting had been called in connection with the Barrmill and Kilwinning Railway Bill, which was to come before the Lords shortly.
This meeting considered the contention by the Glasgow & South-Western Railway Company that Princes Street crossing would carry any additional traffic which might follow the enlargement of Ardrossan Harbour.
On the motion of the Chairman (Provost Hogarth), it had been agreed to draw the attention of the Board of Trade to the matter, in order that inquiry may be made by the said Board into the circumstances of the crossing, and draft of a communication to the Board of Trade was submitted to the meeting and approved.
The recommendation of the Finance Committee, that Mr Robert Boyd, the present collector, be appointed treasurer to the burgh at a salary of £10, was approved, his bond of caution for both offices fixed at £250.
