GLASGOW HERALD
21 SEPTEMBER 1910
ARDROSSAN AS A SUMMER RESORT
A meeting of ratepayers of Ardrossan, convened by the Provost, was held in the Town Hall last night for the purpose of discussing ways and means of adding to the attractiveness of the town as a summer resort. The hall was crowded.
Bailie Flinn said he wished to see a committee of influential gentlemen appointed, and that a committee sub-divided into a shores committee, a parks committee, an improvements committee, and a corresponding committee.
Councillor Fawcett said the new golf course, which was to be ready next year, would do a great deal of good. In addition, he would like to see a bathing pond constructed, a playground for children with proper appurtenances provided on the Castlehill, and bathing boxes on the shores. They ought also to join Saltcoats in a bold advertising scheme.
A committee to co-operate with four members of the Town Council was appointed to consider the best way of carrying out the wishes of the ratepayers.
