GLASGOW HERALD
16 APRIL 1913
NORTH AYRSHIRE LICENSING COURT
It was resolved to continue ten o’clock as the closing hour in the district.
It was intimated that there were three applications for the license for the Station Hotel, Ardrossan, the property of the Glasgow & South-Western Railway Company – by Mr Syme, the late lessee; by Charles R. Davidson, Kilmarnock; and by Miss Catherine Law, described as the manageress of the hotel.
Mr Murray, who appeared for the railway company, stated that after making inquiries they found Mr Davidson to be a suitable person to be a tenant, and had accordingly granted him a lease.
On Mr Murray giving an assurance that the railway company would put the hotel in a proper state of repair the license was granted to Mr Davidson.
Two applications for new licensed grocers’ at Stevenston were continued.
The following license was granted to Alexander McLean, Shawlands, Glasgow, a new tenant or occupant, for licensed grocer’s premises at 8 Glasgow Street, Ardrossan.

GLASGOW HERALD
17 APRIL 1912
ARDROSSAN DOCK EXTENSIONS
The Ardrossan Shipbuilding Company have had their dry dock lengthened by 50 feet. The work of extension was carried on during the winter and has just been completed.
The dry dock is now 310 feet in length by 40 feet in breadth.
The new portion of the dock has been constructed so that repairs to vessels can be carried out right forward to the stern as well as other parts of the hull.
The extension has necessitated a considerable alteration to adjacent properties, the railway lines which serve the lighthouse quay having been set farther back, and some buildings have been removed altogether.
It is expected that the improved facilities will stimulate the shipbuilding and repairing business at Ardrossan.
