5 APRIL 1915

CASUALTY OF WAR

Mrs Hughey, 4 Arthur Street, Saltcoats, has received intimation that her son, James Hughey, has been killed in action in France. He was a private in the Royal Irish Rifles, and had previously served with the regiment in India and other places. He obtained his discharge some time ago, and had been employed in Nobel’s factory up till January 10, when he rejoined his regiment, and was sent to the front. He was well known in the district.
