DEATH - ALLAN

The death is announced in Montreal of Mr Andrew Allan, of the Allan Line of steamers. The deceased, who was born in Saltcoats fully 80 years ago, was one of five sons of Captain Alexander Allan, founder of the company.

The annual competition for the Irvine and District Coronation Cup was played on the Irvine and Dreghorn greens on Saturday last when Kilbirnie were declared the winners.

In their match Saltcoats lost to Dreghorn 19-36 on the Irvine green.
