I have Google chrome as an option, Brian, but I use firefox and apparently right now it's not compatable with Google.

just tried Google Chrome with Firefox open and it works fine, although it did come up with an initial error message.

I tend to use Opera but it's open source and it's not got the more usual support,(not really a bad thing)
for about 3 years I used Safari, which is a Mac browser (although not on a Mac) it's not supported now,but is really good
Years ago I used Netscape, again it was a good one,but taken over

there is available a free open source Browser alternative that keeps your privacy by blocking cookies and other methods of tracking you. It also blocks pop-up ads and doesn't keep a history of your website visiting. Details are in the Computer Active magazine. It's called Epic Browser and their website is www.epicbrowser.com and it suits XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8. I'm going to start using it instead of / as well as Chrome. Let me know if it's useful

My understand is that it's Firefox based,
For various reasons I won't use it, in part because Aol hacked about at IE,Netscape, and now it's doing the same with Firefox, and none have worked completely after the mucking about, and see the same here,
The other thing is that it's not got the back-up that Opera has

I'll just get a new lap top
In that case get a Mac,......there are so many advantages to them, first up they don't require constant up grading, they utilise the memory much more efficiently and they don't tend to get attacked by virus writers

They are so expensive though, Stivis..I've threatened over the years mind. But I could buy 4 wee computers for the price of a Mac..with change to spare.

Morag, try this:
Click on any empty space using the right mouse button where the toolbar should be. You ought to get a dropdown list of toolbars. Tick the one that's missing (here in Germany it would be "Menu").
Fingers crossed...
