BMD and Files from the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald of 19 May 2010.

The photographs printed this week are from my collection. They are P T's beloved Eglinton School taken 1973 and Kilmahew House, Burgh Chambers, Montgomerie Street in 1978.

when looking round kilmarnock.ayr greenock etc is lovely to see how the councils have preserved the old buildings yet very sad :( that most of ardrossan historic buildings were allowed to be demolished.

Tom,

Thanks for these photos. I remember remaining in the playground to play football one day after 4 o'clock and when shooting for goal putting the ball through one of the classroom windows that you've captured. I sought out the jannie to give him the opportunity to board it up and that was the last I heard of it. Good job too since it was my own classroom.

And Lindyloo, you're right. Too many buildings, certainly in Ardrossan, have disappeared.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

And the buildings that have replaced our Eglinton school are an eyesore.
