My mum was a Boyd from Clyde Terrace, Lawson Drive and Castle Road area's in Ardrossan. Her dad, John was born in Dalry as was most of his paternal family for at least a century before that. Iron Miners.
He moved to Ardrossan in the early 50's with her mum, Meg who was from Nottingham. The Boyd's I am most interested in finding out about were my mum's immediate family; Peter, Joe, Christie, Joanie, Dot and William. My mum passed a long time ago now and if only I had asked enough questions (not that I would probably get any straight forward answers back) but for the purpose of how our family settled and the history surrounding our ancestors lives fascinates me.
My papa, John Boyd was allegedly a boxer or he boxed (one of the two). I have a few stories but nothing with any substance. If anyone knew the Boyd's, any of them - would love to hear from you. Other than that, I am just happy to be sifting through this site - it's a treasure trove of knowledge about the area and although I am a late comer to it - I hope it continues for a long time. H
