No, this isn't a sneak preview of next week's events:

It's a scene of the crowds at the 1971 Donkey Derby on the playing-fields at Laighdykes; and it looks like half the population of the Three Towns is there.

So, spot your friends and relations here ! Forget Meekan's Dad; MY Dad is definitely there, and so am I ( albeit only the backs of our heads are in view ) . We were never more surprised to see ourselves when we looked in the Herald that week.( mind you ,I wasn't too thrilled; I look more fifty than fifteen in this photo ...)
