Hewlett family
Hewlett family
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to find my grandfather, Sidney Hewlett, and I know he was born in Barry Island Wales but I know he lived in Kilwinning. He married a Susan Willson in 1942, same year that my father was born. My father was called Sydney Hewlett.
I was just wondering if anyone had any information on my grandfather or grandmother or even my father as he never really wanted to talk about his family. He passed away in 2010 and I'm hoping to return some of his ashes to Kilwinning.
Any info would be great!
Thank you,
Anne-Marie.

Anne-Marie,
Hewlett is not a name I've heard locally but if you care to join the following site (free) there are a couple of intimations in the local newspaper, one in the 1939-59 phase involving the marriage of an Audrey Hewlett and Robert Kennedy in Redcliffe, Bristol; and other references in the 1960-69 phase which refer to two addresses in Kilwinning - 25 Ladyford Avenue and 5 Eglinton Place. These may or may not be connected to your family?

Re: Hewlett family
Thanks for those. Patricia Hewlett is my aunt and Michael is my cousin though they aren't in contact with me.
I found out where my grandparents are buried so that's a start!

Re: Hewlett family
My Dad (1942) was born 25 Ladyford Avenue according to his birth certificate and he was born before his sisters so the family were living there as far as I know. I don't know why they moved as my Dad didn't really bother to tell me much about his family until later in his life, a year or a couple of months before he died.
I don't suppose you know Susan Wilson's father, Walter Wilson. I can't find him on the site http://www.ayrshire-roots.co.uk/ash.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; apart from the two year memorial of Susan's death and that has him registered at 5 Eglington place

Re: Hewlett family
AHewlett,
Sorry Anne-Marie, don't know of a Walter Wilson from Kilwinning.Scotlandspeople came up with 4 Walter Wilson's getting married,Ayr 1934 (to late ),Beith 1916 to a Mary Cuthill, and Muirkirk to a Jeannie Shields Wardrop, and Irvine 1895 to a Helen Boyle.
Best thing to ask Saltcoats Registry Office ,45 Ardrossan Road, Saltcoats, Ayrshire KA21 5BS
Telephone: 01294 463312
To do a search for you ,last i heard it was £15 an hour .Starting with Sidney and Susan's wedding in 1942.Unlike English Certificates both sets of parents should be on it.Then ask them to work back if born in Scotland.

Edit-Wonder if this is a brother of Susan-1 1922 WILSON WALTER M KILWINNING /AYR 599/00 0107
1 1920 WILSON SUSAN F KILWINNING /AYR 599/00 0239
Also this later one could be Family -2 1940 WILSON SUSAN CONNELL L F KILWINNING /AYR 599/00 0465
Edit- 1911 No Walter Wilson in Kilwinning. That is not to say he was not there ,might never have filled it in .
Edit-Deaths-
1 1976 WILSON WALTER Not Permissible DALRYMPLE M 84 KILWINNING /NORTH AYRSHIRE 671/00 0101 No Image
2 1999 WILSON WALTER Not Permissible M 77 KILWINNING /NORTH AYRSHIRE 671/00 0101
Dalrymple is a second name.

Re: Hewlett family
This is so strange but I think my aunt said that Walter Wilson changed his name from Dalrymple to Wilson so he could get into the army!

Re: Hewlett family
I'll hopefully be getting my grandfather's birth certificate soon and see where that takes me, but Walter Wilson has come up on Ancestry so that's a big plus.
Thank you very much for all your help!
