Sunday night had the pleasure of watching 'CalamityJane' with the great Doris Day. Made in 1953, I've been watching it since I was 5!
This is very much my favourite movie. I've watched it umpteen times but I never get tired of watching it and hearing all the beautiful songs. Especially 'take me back to the black hills'
All the songs are very enjoyable, her acting first class and cowboy talk so authentic. She really was so pretty.
A perfect end to mothers day!
In October I came over especially from Italy to see the Doris Day tribute show at Barrfields, Largs, well worth while.
What's the latest movie you've seen?

Glenshena,
I saw it advertised but couldn't bring myself to watch it. I would fall in love again with Doris Day , and be singing about the Deadwood Stage for a fortnight. I first saw it in the "Bug Hut" (The Lyric Cinema, Princes Street, Ardrossan) when admittance was either by way of cash or, in my case, an empty Co-operative 2lb jam jar - and that wasn't yesterday . A brilliant film.

Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Was delighted to watch Sean Connery playing his first James Bond film in 1962. Boy was he a handsome man, good actor too. Definitely the most handsome of all the Bond actors.
Dr No with the lovely Ursula Adress.

Yesterday watched 'South Pacific" a 1939 oldie from Rogers and Hammerstein which I last watched as a child in Saltcoats. Always wanted to see it again, enjoyed the lovely songs. With handsome Italian Rossano Brazzi, posing as a frenchman, and Mitzie Gaynor, a nurse ftom the USA.
Very enjoyable.

It’s usually on around Christmas time Jean - I think BBC2 carried it last year. Love Rossano Brazzi - must have watched it 4 or 5 times.

Last month it was Oklahoma, another Rogers and Hammersteins I wanted to see after all these years. Not much of a story but the song 'Oh what a beautiful morning' made it worthwhile.

Just watched Wicked Little Letters and laughed out loud quite a few times. WARNING - it uses lots - and I mean LOTS of swear words (the content of the letters) but both Actresses are fantastic in their roles - Jessie Buckley and Olivia Coleman - and supporting actors are all well known English actors. Would really recommend - except to those that are offended by swearie words.

Last night I watched Cliff Richards and the Shadows on Sky Arts 147. Their concert at the O2 in London in 2009. 15 years ago! Absolutely sold out to an audience of average age 50. I had never seen it before. He sang all of his hit songs, Summer Holiday, The Next Time, Dont talk to him, The Young Ones etc. Hank Marvin was wonderful on guitar and played all the Apaches best known hits too.
A real blast from the past, even though Cliff is quite different from what I remember in the 60s. More serious, thinner, he rarely smiled, just towards the end when the concert was closing.
I missed the closing ceremony of the olympics 2024 from Paris, but much preferred watching Cliff Richard!
