WERE YOUR RELATIVES’ ASHES SCATTERED AT WINTON PARK?

Post by George Ardrossan »

Ardrossan Winton Rovers are nearing the end a season in which they have been promoted for the second successive time. Next season they will play in the West of Scotland Football League First Division – most likely as Second Division champions if they do well in their remaining three games.

After the last match, the grass pitch will be lifted and replaced with astroturf. This decision has been taken for financial reasons while recognising that grass – particularly Winton Park’s – is an excellent surface for playing football.

Over the years, the club has been very supportive of the wishes of some fans to have their ashes scattered at Winton Park and wants to remember these supporters before the new surface is laid. On Sunday 19 May at 1pm, there will be a short ecumenical service conducted by Canon Matt McManus of Saint Peter’s Church and the Reverend Jim Smith of the Evangelical Union Church. The club has the names of those whose ashes have been scattered in recent years but is keen to hear from anyone whose relatives may have been remembered in this way so that invitations to the service can be extended. Refreshments will later be served in the Supporters’ Club.

If you know of someone who should be invited, please send me a private message and I will pass your details to the club.

Thanks

George
