THEFT BY HOUSEBREAKING

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court pleading diet on Monday, Elizabeth McDonald or Hamilton, Saltcoats, was charged with theft by housebreaking, in Saltcoats, on 27th March, and having pled not guilty the case was continued for the enrolment of a jury.

HERRING SMACK FOR SALE AT SALTCOATS

There will be sold by public roup, within the office of Robert King Barbour, writer, in Saltcoats, upon Thursday the 8th day of May next, at two o’clock afternoon, a herring smack, with her appurtenances, and eight barrels of herring nets.

BREACH OF HOTEL CERTIFICATE IN SALTCOATS

At Saltcoats Police Court yesterday before Bailies Christie and Miller, Alexander Goodwin, spirit merchant, residing in Glasgow, was charged with having on April 8, committed a breach of his certificate of licence for the Crown Hotel, Saltcoats, by knowingly permitting drunkenness within his premises. He pleaded not guilty.

After a trial lasting nearly four hours the Magistrates returned a verdict of guilty in both charges, and Goodwin was fined £8, with an option of 20 days imprisonment.
