noticed that the wee gatehouse at glenfoot has been demolished, at one time Glenfoot was owned by ICI and it was friends of my grandfather that lived in the gatehouse for years, was tiny inside. had been empty for years though as the bloke died and his missus moved away
dont know if the hotel is still open

Added this one to my collection today. Bit before my time but I always remember the stretch between the town's edge and the Tarbet being popular with the "motoring" crowd.

What we do for ourselves alone dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal. - Albert Pine
I recognise Big Jumbo. One of the local landmarks err... Seamarks. had lots of fun in that area while growing up. Looks like a radio mast in the hills towards West Kilbride.
I to remember diving off big jumbo, but you had to make sure the tide was in far enough to have enough depth, otherwise it was easy to scrape your belly on the sand.
I believe that lovely smell of the seaweed is a gas called, Dimethyl Sulphide, Its produced by seaweed and Phyto Plankton.{ The smell of the sea} once released into the atmosphere it oxidizes to become sulphate and sulphonate these compounds cause water vapor to condense into droplets forming clouds
