Darroch and Arthur families

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping someone might have some inforamtion on some family. I'm trying to add more detail to my family tree and figure out where family lines have gone.

Did anyone happen to know a Janet Barr Darroch b: 1914, she was married to Thomas Ward b: 1907. I believe they had a son and that Thomas was in the 2nd world war where he was a POW until returning home.

I'm also looking for an Arthur Thomas, born around 1941 I think in Ireland and was the manager of the Mackerston Hotel around 1971/72. It's a monastery now and I've checked with them but they don't hold any of the records from when it was a hotel.

Hoping for any information anyone might have or suggestions on where to look

I found some information on Janet Barr Darroch and Thomas Ward. It's from the Scotland's People website:

Janet Barr Darroch:
Born 29th October 1914 at 15 Manse Street, Saltcoats, district of Old Ardrossan
Father Charles Darroch, dock labourer
Mother Mary, née Kerr
Her parents were married on 02nd January 1912 at Dennistoun, Glasgow
She married Thomas Ward on 10th April 1936 at 59 Stevenson Street, Glasgow [her home]. She was working as a domestic servant at that time.
She died in 1982 at Coatbridge. No details available as they're not shown until 50 years after death.

Thomas Ward:
Born 29th November 1907 at 19 Alpine Terrace, Uddingston, district of Bothwell
Father William Ward, coal miner
Mother Sarah, née McCready
His parents were married on 11th July 1900 at Uddingston
At the time of his marriage to Janet he was working as a general labourer. His mother is shown as being deceased. He was living at 58 St. Clair Street, Glasgow.
I can't determine when he died. There are too many people to choose from.

Hi Irene,

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been through scotlands people and pulled a lot of the records. I’ve been using it for years to build up the tree, such a great site. I’ve also seen that one on the hotel. I emailed the monastery (that’s what it is now) and they have no records. I’ll try that one on Ireland.

I’m hoping at this point to see if there’s anyone around who may have know the family or any living family. I live in Australia so hoping I stumble along the right people to talk to.
