His name was Douglas Beggs, he had a brother Jim and sister Elizabeth. At least I think that was their names.
Douglas was living in Canada last time I heard from him.
If I can find his email address I will contact him and tell him you are enquiring about the family.

CASUALTY OF WAR
21 APRIL 1917
Died on service, Second Lieutenant, The Rev. DUGALD McARTHUR, (31), 2nd Battalion Black Watch – Theatre of war, Palestine – husband of Margaret Steedman Sweet or McArthur, Ardrossan.
The Glasgow Herald subsequently reported: -
“Second Lieutenant Dugald McArthur, Black Watch, was minister of New Ardrossan parish. He enlisted as a private about the beginning of last year, and received his commission towards the end of that year, leaving a few months ago for the fronts.
He was a native of Renton, and had a distinguished career at Glasgow University, where he took the Arts and B.D. degrees.
He was a student assistant successively in the parishes of Appin, Kilsyth, and Aberfoyle and was for two years assistant at Barony Church, Glasgow.
About four years ago he was inducted to the charge of New Ardrossan.
He was married fully a year ago, and leaves a young widow and son.
In consequence of his death no services were held in the church yesterday.”

It will be seen from our advertising columns that the steamer commences sailing to Arran on Saturday afternoons, commencing Saturday first.
Passengers can thus leave Glasgow, Dunlop Street, at quarter past four for Arran on the Saturdays, and be back in Glasgow again at a quarter before ten on Monday mornings.
The steamer commences to sail daily on the 1st proximo.

There was a small attendance at the market on Thursday.
There were 164 bolls wheat exposed, of which 50 sold at 20s, and 14 at 19s.
There were 60 bolls oats offered of which 20 sold at 26s.
