It’s so sad that all these handsome young men were lost in the Great War. The topic also reminds me of George McIntyre (geomcintyre) a schoolmate of Canfactory and myself who did such wonderful research into the military - and was honoured at the Shot at Dawn Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, by the dedication of a memorial bench. George died in 2016, at a time when he was gathering together 'Threetown’ material with a view to publishing some form of tribute to those who perished in World War I, his intention being to have it ready for the 100th anniversary of the ending of the conflict; and anything I currently post relative to the Great War is merely an interpretation, as best I can, of his notes.

The foregoing photographs, and those which follow, are from one of George’s files.
