The adjourned meeting was held on Friday evening – Provost Barr in the chair.

On the motion of the Chairman, it was agreed to issue notices cautioning parties against laying down wrack opposite Montgomerie Street and North Crescent.

The names of retiring members were intimated by the Clerk, viz.: Bailie Currie, Councillors Fullerton and Guthrie.

It was remitted to the Works Committee to arrange as to some repairs to the Town’s House.

The Provost gave notice of a motion that parties should be summoned before the Magistrates who swept refuse and rubbish on to the streets.

The Council afterwards sat as the Local Authority.

ARDROSSAN COURSING CLUB

From early morn till the despatch of our parcel rain has fallen incessantly, and when we mention that a cold nipping wind prevailed it will be easily understood that spectators were far from enjoying themselves at the opening of the proceedings of the Ardrossan Club.

Hares were rather scarce owing to the boisterous weather, but nearly all the trials were splendid.

The Eglinton St. Leger and the Ardrossan Castle Stakes were contested.
