SALTCOATS LICENSING COURT

The Justices for Saltcoats district met in the Old Town Hall, Saltcoats, yesterday – Mr. James Miller presiding.

An application by Mr. Robert McKirdy for transfer of public house license for premises in Countess Street, Saltcoats, was granted, and all renewals of transfers were granted.

There were no complaints regarding the conduct of licensed premises.

MIRACULOUS ESCAPE

Yesterday a young man named MATHIESON, a lather, belonging to Saltcoats, fell from a three-storey house near Five Roads, Kilwinning, and had a miraculous escape.

While carrying deafening he tripped, and fell off the plank to the ground, breaking three cement stones in his fall.

On examination it was found that he had lost a tooth, besides slight injury to his feet.

He was conveyed to Kilmarnock Infirmary.

SALTCOATS SUMMER ENTERTAINMENTS

At a meeting of Saltcoats Town Council – Provost Donaldson presiding – the Shores Committee recommended that 34 performances be given by the burgh band during the summer season in Melbourne Park at a cost of £110 to the Council. The recommendation was adopted.

At the same meeting permission was granted to the band to give a series of musical entertainments on behalf of their new instruments fund.

An application by the Glasgow Professional Orchestra for permission to give orchestral and vocal concerts during the season was refused, the Council intimating that the arrangements for outdoor entertainments had already been completed.

SALTCOATS LICENSING COURT

Licenses were granted to Hugh Beck, Eglinton Street, Ardrossan, for a public house in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, and to William Smith, Main Street, Stevenston, for a public house there. Both applicants formerly held licenses for these premises, but had allowed them to lapse.

Transfers were granted to George Turnbull McGarva for a grocer’s license in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, and to James Waddell for an inn and hotel in Princes Street, Ardrossan.

Renewal was granted to Gavin Weir, Hamilton Street, Saltcoats, for a grocer’s license.

All the old licenses in Ardrossan, Saltcoats, and Stevenston, were granted.

Mrs. Lundie, public house, Bradshaw Street, Saltcoats, and Hugh Patrick, public house, Quay Street, Saltcoats, having reconstructed their premises, applied for licenses, which were granted.

Three renewals of transferred licenses were also granted.
