On the two bits of film from the old ground, there are lots of trees evident in the background and that could be in Auchenharvie.

Scott,

If you look again at the 1937 map below, you will see that, while Cunninghame Road is still under construction, there is a heavily wooded area immediately behind Cunninghame Road.

LOSS BY FIRE

Yesterday morning shortly after eight o’clock, part of a house owned by Mr. Robert Aird, spirit merchant, and tenanted by Mr. William Mathieson, general dealer, at 6 Canal Street, Saltcoats, was destroyed by fire.

Originating in a kitchen downstairs, the fire spread rapidly, and very soon half the building was gutted. The brigade kept the fire confined, although fears were entertained for an adjoining public house.

The loss is estimated at £280 and is covered by insurance.
