SHEPHERD’S FESTIVAL

On Friday evening the annual festival of the “Crook and Plaid Lodge” of Ancient Shepherds was held in the Woodside Hall, Stevenston.

The Right Hon. the Earl of Glasgow presided, and stated that he had joined the lodge some time ago in order to show his sympathy with and appreciation of the objects of the Order.

An address was delivered by Mr. Jamieson, District Chief Shepherd, in which the advantages connected with the Order were explained.

During the evening an excellent programme of music was carried through by local artistes.

BOY KILLED

On Tuesday evening, JOHN NIVEN, (14), apprentice moulder, son of William Niven, New Street, Stevenston, was accidentally killed at the Eagle Foundry while assisting in removing a railway track from the foundry to the lye of the Glasgow & South-Western Railway.

The Clyde were by far the superior team and won by 7 goals to 2. A half-time the Clyde led by 4 to 1.

DICKIE: At Fullarton Place, Stevenston, on the 24th instant, John Dickie (of Morrison & Dickie) beloved husband of Joanna Smith.

DEATH OF MR. JOHN DICKIE

After an illness of several months’ duration, Mr. Dickie died at his residence in Fullarton Place, Stevenston. He was a native of the town, and for the last quarter of a century took a leading part in public affairs.
