Will need to look out Bobby’s family tree. Think this may be a relative . Bobby is called after his Grandfather Robert Aitken.Penny Tray wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2019 8:56 am GLASGOW HERALD

GLASGOW HERALD
29 SEPTEMBER 1892
NORTHERN DISTRICT COMMITTEE OF AYRSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
It was suggested by the sub-committee on hospitals, of which Major J. F. Dalrymple Hay is convenor, that a suitable site for a hospital for Stevenston, Ardrossan, and West Kilbride parishes might be found near the junction of the high road from Ardrossan to West Kilbride with the road from Ardrossan to Dalry.
Major Hay explained that this site was about six miles from the farthest limit of West Kilbride parish, three-and-a-half miles from Stevenston village, and one mile from the town of Ardrossan.
Mr. James Mutter, of Meiklelaught, objected to the existence of two hospitals in Ardrossan parish.
Mr. Gemmell, West Kilbride, said the proposed district had not a population of more than 7000, and the other districts formed were three times as populous. There had not been a case of an infectious disease in West Kilbride parish for two years.
A suggestion was made that the building erected as a hospital by the Parish Board of Ardrossan, might be extended and adapted to meet the requirements of a district hospital.
Mr. Stewart, Lord Eglinton’s factor, asked for delay and after some discussion the convenor of committee agreed that consideration of the proposal to erect a district hospital for the proposed parishes should be postponed.

GLASGOW HERALD
30 SEPTEMBER 1898
HOUSEBREAKING
Early yesterday morning the cellar attached to the public-house in Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, owned by Captain John Kerr, was broken into and a quantity of beer and porter stolen.
It appears that a fireman on the Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway, residing above Kerr’s shop, returned home from work about two o’clock in the morning. He went to bed, but was unable to sleep for the noise the burglars were making. He rapped on the window and shouted, “Police,” and thus scared the burglars away.
After the birds had flown he went for the police, who arrived in time to find the booty in a box.
A man named McLean, a loafer, was apprehended. He was conveyed to Kilmarnock yesterday, and after emitting a declaration before the Sheriff, he was discharged.
