GLASGOW HERALD
11 JUNE 1889
MUNICIPAL MEETING – ARDROSSAN
At a meeting of the Police Commissioners of the burgh – Provost Hogarth in the chair – it was intimated that an arrangement had been come to between Mr. Russell by which he would retain the piece of ground on the Public Park behind his house. Mr. Russell allowed the Commissioners facilities for taking water into the park, for which the clerk was asked to convey thanks to Mr. Russell.
Mr. Reid, C.E., gave in a report as to the state of the water at the works, and recommended the erection of cisterns in houses in third storeys, as at present the water in day-time would not rise to them. He recommended the Commissioners to build covers over their clear water tanks to prevent vegetable growth and lessen the complaints as to insects coming through the pipes.
The Commissioners approved Reid’s suggestions, and remitted to the Works Committee to consider, and have that they thought proper carried out.
